Welcome to Hydra’s Alliance 1-60 Leveling Guide.
I decided to write this guide because I felt like the other alliance material was lackluster. Throughout Classic I will update/improve the guide in areas that I feel are slightly slower/weaker. The primary focus of the guide is written from a priest point of view, however this mostly affects trainer locations. It can be completed as any class, however some adaptation will be required with trainer locations and should you wish to complete any class specific quests. The route can be done solo, duo or in a group depending on which optional parts you choose to do.
My main design philosophy here is efficiency, leaving out quests that do not fit into a natural pathing route while trying to fit in as many quests as possible to reduce grinding.
I have also included some optional instances I believe to be worthwhile while leveling as the quests for them are easy to pick up naturally on the rest of the route based on level and location. The route has not been adapted to fit around instances so do not feel compelled to do them as they are not compulsory or required in any way. They will mostly just alleviate the need for grinding at certain points or potentially you’ll be slightly overleveled which will make killing mobs easier for you.
Things to keep in mind while leveling:
- Kill all the time, never stop.
- As you move from quest location to quest location grind on whatever is available while moving as much as possible in the direction you’re headed. As a priest for example, using mindblast almost exclusively on a mob while you’re ‘travelling’ is a super efficient method of travel, keeping pain up and the occasional wand to ensure the mob doesn’t evade. You want to maximise your mana and spend as little time as possible drinking so killing while moving allows you to get the most value out of your mana regen, sitting on full mana is bad! The same goes for other classes though with health for non mana users
- Make sure you’re aware of what ability/abilities are strongest/most efficient at various levels so that you’re killing as quickly/efficiently as possible (it’s a balance)
- Avoid initiating PvP if possible if you want to level fast
- Avoid Professions if your only goal is to level fast
- TURN ON AUTO LOOT
How to read the guide:
I have tried to keep the guide as simple and intuitive as possible using numbered maps, so follow the numbers! They lead the way, the text goes into more detail and is in sync with the number locations on the map if you aren’t entirely sure what you should be doing at each location.
If I haven’t said to accept a quest, don’t pick it up. This will bloat your quest log and in Classic you can only get 20.
